Costes restaurant opened in the summer of 2008. Within two years, led by Portuguese chef, it was awarded a Michelin star — the first ever in Hungary — and has maintained this status ever since. In all forums, Costes has consistently been mentioned among the best restaurants of the country; in 2014 it was ranked the 25th best restaurant in the world and 14th best in Europe by Tripadvisor. It has also been ranked the best Restaurant of the Country by Gault & Millau, and Dining Guide has twice named Costes as the Restaurant of the Year. Our continous success is credited to the fact that we have always prioritized exceptional quality and have never been satisfied with less than the finest. When it comes to ingredients, techniques, and our staff, we have always been true to our concept of „quality gastronomy without compromises”.In 2015, chef Eszter Palagyi took over the Costes kitchen as Chef de Cuisine. Simultaneously, our sister restaurant, the Costes Downtown was opened in the heart of Budapest. Eszter Palágyi dreamt about a complex restaurant philosophy for Costes and for herself – to create a fine dining gastronomic culture that connects classic Hungarian cuisine – based on family recepies – with international trends, establishing a perfect balance between tradition and innovation of course without compromising the spirit of quality.
